Evaluation of Clinical Efficacy of Dashamulabala Taila through Shamana & Shodana therapy in the Management of Pangu (Paraplegia)

Abstract
Pangu (Paraplegia) is a neurological disorder where locomotion is seriously affected due to paralysis at both lower limbs. Different studies were conducted at Central Research Institute (Ay.), Cheruthurthy, Kerala to establish the efficacy of some indigenous formulations in Pangu. Aims of the present study (1999-2005) are to be evaluate Sodhana and Samana effect of Dashamula Bala Taila and Dashamula Bala Kwatha in Pangu. 90 patients irrespective of age, sex, religion, habit, occupation, etc. suffering from Pangu were selected from out patient Department of the Institute and divided into two study groups. 41 patients were included in Group 1, Sodhana Therapy, with Dasamoola Bala Thaila and advocated 58 patients were included in group II, Samana with Dasamula Bala Taila and Kwatha were given. In Group I, 5 cases have got good response, 8 cases have got fair response and 16 cases have got poor response. In Group II, good response in 10 cases, fair response in 20 cases and poor response in 19 cases has been noticed. Encouraginf results have been obtained in both the groups of this study, which is also statistically highly significant
