Clinical Evaluation Of Arjunadi Yoga In The Management Of Vyanabalavaisamya (Essential Hypertension)

Abstract
Essential hypertension (vyanabalavaisamya) is nothing but arterial hypertension without a definite cause and can be considered as a heterogenous disorder. In ayurvedic literature, it is not described as a special disease entity, however, based on nidana, samprapti and laksana it is considered as the vitiation of vayanavayu, hence it is termed as vyanabalavaisamya. No single drug recipewill be safe and effective in essential hypertension. In this direction, central council for research in ayurveda and siddha (CCRAS) has been conducted clinical trials at various levels with different formulae. The present study has been taken up to see the efficacy of  a combinatioon of drugs i.e arjuna, vaca, brahmi, jatamansi in one group(I) and the same combination of drugs along with yoga and meditationin another group (II). Group - I was effective in 59.99% and group II, 68.00%. On statistical analysis both the groups were found highly significant.
