Abstract
The concept of Prakriti is a unique contribution of Ayurvedic science. Prakriti denotes individual/s natural body constitution. According to Ayurveda each individual is unique and different from one other. Assessment of prakriti is given top most priority in clinical examination of the patient i.e. Dasavidha pareeksha. During the time of intrauterine life, due to the influence of dominant dosha sukra, artava, ahara, vihara or garbhini and ritu, formation of prakriti is taking place. Seven types of Prakriti are described in Ayurveda. Three individual viz. vata, pitta, kapha, three dvandvaja viz. vatapittaja, vatakaphaja, pittakaphakja and one sama prakriti. It is considered that prakriti assessment is highly essential to evaluate the metabolic imptinting, physiology, disease proneness or susceptibility to the diseases, prognosis of the disease, socio behavioral aspects, manasika stithi (mental status), dehabala (inherent strength), vyadhutpadaka pratibhandhakatva (immunity power), agni (metabolic fire) etc. of an individual. Present study is taken up in 100 apparently hrealthy female volunteers to assess the patterns of menstruation including proliferate and secretary phase changes in different prakritis based on the proforma according to the inclusion criteria after thorough clinical examination.
