Role of sodhana Chikitsa in the management of tamaka swasa-A clinical study

Abstract
Tamaka swasa is the commonset disease having prevalent all over the world . Swasakastata, kasa Kaphanisthvana Ghurghurakam etc. characterize it. It may be correlated with Bronchial Asthma are resembles with symptoms of Tamasa Swas. Through it is a major global problem in present era, only palliative treatment is available in all systems of Medicine . In Ayurveda, very good principle of treatment like vamana and Virechana has been described . The Regional Research Institue (Ay), Vijayawada is being conducted clinical trials to evaluate the efficacy of Sodhana therapy in the management of Tamaka Swasa on 35 cases of which 17 cases got good response ,12 got fair response , 1 got poor response and 5 cases were dropped out from the study. The effect of the therapy was observed highly significant(P<0.001) in relieving the subjective parameters. And also found significant improvement (P<0.001) in the Lungs function Test (PEFR).
