Abstract
An open trial of an Ayurvedic formulation containing hydroalcoholic extract of sarpagandha mg, tagra 250 mg and Punarnava 250 mg every 12 hrs. Dose was adju8sted according to severity of hypertension along with Haritaki churna, 10 gm at bed time in the partients of Mild to Moderate Hypertension was conducted in Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Post Graduate Ayurvedic College, Paprola (H.P.). In total thirty patients were selected out of them six did not turn up for follow up. The patients treated with this therapy showed that out of 14 patients,37.5% were highly improved 33.33 patients were moderately improved and 29.16% patients were showing mild improvement. the systolic blood pressure(SBP) was reduced by 19.44% and distolic blood pressure (DBP) was reduced by 16.12% where as the fall in pulse rate was 22.13%. Thus it can be conceptulated that drugs given in this single trial group will prove to be benificial in the individuals suffering from essential hypertension and prevent them from grave consequences.
