Abstract
With the increasing stress and strain of modern life, incidence of hypertension is increasing substantially. In white population nearly 1/5th of the individuals have blood pressure>160mm of Hg while one half hava B.P.>140/90mm of Hg. The incidence is still higher in the black population (william & Fisher, 2005). Salt intake, obesity, occupation, alcohol intake and crowding are the predisposing factors in development of hypertension. The present study was launched at CRIA, Delhi to evaluate the efficacy of a herbal compound Arjuna Vachadi Yoga (A combination of Arjuna, Brahmi, Vacha and Jatamansi ). In non-complicated and non-specific patients of hypertension, the combination was given to 182 patients of Vyan Bala Vaishamya vis-a-vis Hypertension for 3 months and results were observed according to fall in BP and improvement in symptoms (viz. Anidra, Daurbalya, shirahsula, Kshubdhata Shrama, Bhrama). 27 patients showed good response, 67 patients showed fair response, 34 patients showed poor response and 15 patients should no response. there were 39 drop puts during the entire study.
